The Sound of Distant Drums

Chaplain Rene with Jackson, Zane, Tristan, Kaedyn and Harry

We are fortunate to have the DRUMBEAT programme facilitated by Ashmore PCYC, free for our students.

DRUMBEAT is a program developed by Holyoake that combines experiential learning with cognitive behavioural therapy.  DRUMBEAT promotes social understanding and connection through a team drumming experience. It is fun, safe, creative, engaging and rewarding. Participants lift their self-esteem, learn to work cooperatively and are exposed to the therapeutic and recreational benefits of music.    The programme runs for an hour per week for the term and our Chaplain Rene is also laying down some beats.  We have offered the programme currently to Year 6 boys and can be heard drumming from downstairs under the hall each Tuesday afternoon 2-3pm.  This is a great opportunity for our students to engage in this positive programme experience.
